Things from the Past!

Thursday, March 27, 2008

I remember when I was in my university that I wished there's an online loans that you can take because of all the stuff that needed to be paid off! Ah...the life of a student! It was actually fun and very exciting! I learned a lot during those days. And when my brother who also works now needs a little cash, he always tells me if he can check some of those online payday lending. He is still single though and with all the expenses that he needs since he's taking the responsibility with my sisters' tuition fee for now. So, this one is sure a great help for everyday living! I got to read this Power Payday Loan that matches you with lenders who can have you the funds you need ASAP. These loans are directly deposited into your account during the evening, so you can sweep for the day your approved loan and in most cases, lenders will not require you to fax any paperwork. Isn't that great guys?

Anyway, this site really sure helps for those people needing some short money needs. Either, you will use it for paying bills, or spend it in important matters and you are tight on money this is definitely the quickest way! Check it out!

Skin Nurturing Tips…

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Basic reminders:

  • Don’t over wash your face.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh soaps.
  • Use warm water when washing.
  • Finish by patting your face dry gently with a soft towel.

For oily skin:

Just add any combination of citric fruits, such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruits to bath water. Citric doesn’t only kill bacteria, it removes impurities and dry up excess oil. It is the ultimate aroma therapy, and it’s a great way to use overripe fruits too.

Determine your energy cost

Friday, March 21, 2008

Energy cost can vary significantly with each season. Examine your cost annually by gathering all your electric and natural gas bills for a 12-month period, and then add them all up. Also, include a year’s worth of bills for wood, oil, or other heating fuel you may buy. This will give you an idea and can serve as a guide to your energy bills in the future.

Maundy Thursday....

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Maundy Thursday (also known as Holy Thursday and Green Thursday) remembers the night before Jesus died. These events are best described in Mathew 26:20-30, Mark 14:17-26, Luke 22:14-35 and John 13-17, and Luke focus on the institution of the Lord’s Supper and the eating of the Passover meal. John focuses on the words of Jesus and His washing of the disciples’ feet.

The name “Maundy” comes from the words of Jesus, “Mandatum Novum” (a new commandment,” John 13:34). From the Fourth century on, Maundy Thursday was viewed as the last day of the Lenten fast and also as the day of reconciliation.

Since it was on this night that Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, that sacred meal has often been the chief emphasis of Maundy Thursday. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated and often its meaning is rehearsed. At the end of the service, the altar is stripped, in preparation for Good Friday. This symbolizes Christ being stripped by the Roman soldiers prior to His crucifixion. Psalm 22, a Messianic psalm which clearly prophesies the Messiah’s death, is read while the altar is stripped.

From ancient times the Church in various places has also observed a ceremony of foot washing, in memory of our Lord washing His disciples’ feet in this night. The liturgy of foot washing came to be called mandatum.

Holy week

As we now practice it, holy week is the last 40 day season of Lent and the week preceding Easter. In Holy Week we focus on the last week of Christ’s life, remembering especially His passion and resurrection. Though calling this week “Holy Week” is more and recent innovation, the annual observance of the festivals within it, are of ancient origin.

Palm/Passion Sunday

Palm Sunday is the commemoration of our Lord’s triumphant entry to Jerusalem five days before His crucifixion. Scripture records this incident in Mathew 11:1-11, Luke 19:29-44 and John 12”12-19. This day takes its name from the fact that as Jesus approached Jerusalem on a donkey (in fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9), the huge crowd that followed carried palm branches as they praised Him. The people hailed Him as the long awaited “Son of David,” that is the, Messiah.

Though not annually observed at first, by 600-1000 A.D. Palm Sunday was being given full treatment, especially by Christians aligned with Rome. This treatment was part of a growing emphasis at that time to imitate as closely as possible the last days of Christ’s life.

Palm Sunday has a dual focus today. Our service begins with a joyful procession with palms to remember our Lord’s jubilant entry to Jerusalem. The hymns, prayers, and lectionary Scripture readings also reflect this joy. A second focus on Palm Sunday is our Lord’s Passion. When this second focus is observed, the entire passion story (Mathew, Mark, or Luke) is read (in the place of the sermon).

Originally, however, Passion Sunday was held two weeks before Easter and it began the two week period known as “Passiontide” in which special stress was placed on Christ’s suffering and crucifixion. The two week Passiontide is older than Lent, having been observed since the third century.

Freshen a Dresser

Lighten the look of a dark wooden dresser by painting on crisp, summery strips. Choose a subdued accent color, like lilac, that echoes the décor. Remove drawers; unscrew knobs; paint drawers and dresser white. Let it dry. Replace and close drawers. Apply blue painter’s tape in a variety of widths, from a half-inch to four inches, to cover areas on drawer fronts you want to stray white. Run tape along entire lengths of dresser. Paint drawers with accent color; let it dry, remove table, replace knobs.

Yahoo! Brit Got a Job!

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Well, what do you know! All you people out there who were crying non stop, thinking how poor Brit Brit Spears is all alone in the world, crazy, friendless and jobless, you can stop now. I mean really, you can stop, dry your tears and smile, 'cause the sun is shining again on the formerly-out of control fallen pop princess. Well, maybe not really shining, but a couple of rays are making their way down to Brit's heart, and the frapp loving singer has a reason (or at least a pretext) to stop spending her days driving aimlessly around L.A. and hooking up with paparazzi lovers. Why? Well, because lil' Brit Brit Spears landed a job, y'all, and is reportedly very excited about it.

And no, Britney is NOT trying to buy off Starbucks and become the multi-million dollar executive of a giant frappuccino-making international consortium – nor is she going back to singing, at least for now. No, she's trying her hand at acting again (shudder). The singer's representative has confirmed reports that she will make a guest appearance on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Britney previously appeared as a guest on another CBS sitcom, "Will and Grace" (sometime at the beginning of 2006 if memory serves), and didn't do such a horribly bad job of it, so here she is getting another shot at fame as an actress. Oh, joy.

No word yet on exactly what part Britney will be playing on the show, but it's deemed to be a small project. Gossip site TMZ reported that the popwreck already took part in a read-through and she was "really funny", according to a source. No word yet on whether the source found Britney herself funny (funny-looking is my guess), or whether Brit's attempted performance was the source of the humor. Apparently, all this is nothing but "a small legitimate project that will keep her busy doing something". Good for her. At least it's not boozing, doing drugs or visiting gas stations at night and using public toilets. Big improvement, don't you think?

Reminiscing my first job!

Saturday, March 8, 2008

I remember 3 years ago when I was roaming around town looking for a job. I have been to almost all offices here in Davao. By then, one of my criteria in accepting the job is the office itself. I am really motivated to do better in my interviews if I can see a good quality office furniture. It sounds ridiculous but ever since a child aside from becoming a fashion designer, my dream is to work in an office with a nice office desk with many subordinates reporting for me. When I accepted my current job I thought that I will be having my own desk but as expected I'm just an employee with no subordinates at all. The good thing is that on my first day in reporting in my so-called office I found a very comfortable ambiance with a kind manager. My work then is a customer service representative. I'm confident enough to do it better but my nervousness merely swallowed me. But I gained my composure as time goes by. At the end of the day I have to do my reports and to my surprise I found this huge office storage at the rear corner. It really looks very durable and very neat. By then I realized that even though I don't have a desk I'm still working for an office and by that I consider it a dream come true.

In UK, there are companies like Inter County that cater office furniture you need. They specialize in making durable but cost efficient office storage products. One can simply go online and look for the right furniture that suite your needs as well as your budget. They offer a number of shapes, sizes and colors and with a wide selection of matching storage and tables. Their desks are built to last longer compare to any other office furniture in UK. This is the easiest way to purchase those stuffs. So, guys go now and take time to check them out. I’m sure they will provide you what your looking for.

Comfort foods that make you skinny

Friday, March 7, 2008

Some experts say we are psychologically programmed to yearn for foods we associate with happiness. One thing for sure: when we need a pick me up, we rich for carbs. They produce serotonin- the brain chemical responsible for restoring our chirpy mood. So here’s a secret way to eating carbs the right way.

Carbs are vital to a healthy diet because they give us energy and it’s their glycaemic index (GI) we need to be wary of. GI is a ranking.. to describe how quickly the carbs they contain are digested and absorbed in the blood. Foods that are quickly digested have a high GI (70 or more) and foods that take the longest are low GI (less than 55). Here’s how to indulge in your fave foods without the guilt or weight gain..

Porridge or oatmeal has a medium GI. Natural oats are great for you. They are rich in vitamin B6 (which stimulates serotonin production) and help absorbs toxins. But if you add full-fat milk, sugar, or bananas, its GI increases, and you’ll be wanting more in about half an hour. Add peaches, pears, cherries or plums to lower its GI and fill you up.

Pasta – most pasta have a low GI, but its additives that count. Tomato-based ones are your best bet.

Pizza has a medium GI, but you can lower it with a few changes. Go for whole wheat or thin crust instead of high-GI white bread, and avoid cheese filled crusts. Toppings like tomato, low fat cheese, mushrooms and olives are good low GI options, and add herbs like basil or garlic.

Potato – some foods have high GI but are nutritious, like potatoes. If you can’t resist a cup of mash potatoes or a handful of chips, be savvy: sweet potato has a really low GI. Swap your French fries to camote wedges.

Dessert – ice cream and most cakes have a relatively low GI but contain “empty kilojules” (load of sugar with no nutritional benefits). Get a low fat version and add berries or peaches. A few squares of antioxidant-rich dark chocolate with nuts will also go a long way.

Art galore…

Art is often used to refer specifically to beautiful visual creations like paintings, portraits and the like, perhaps the work of arts of some famous artist from long ago or just our own obra maestra. It's a fine and expensive property that you would keep for as long as possible. But taking care of it is really painstaking especially when moving it to a new place. Moving work of arts requires much attention and most of us don't take chances when it comes to shipping or storing it. It's not like putting it in our backseat and drove it to our next destination. Remember, a fine art like antiques or paintings could be as old as your grand father. One wrong move could tear it and even a wrong temperature can destroy its precious paints. Thus, if it's destroyed someone will have a hard time looking for a new one. Good thing there are companies nowadays that offers services like moving your art work without damaging it. Art storage is no longer a problem, it is safe and nothing is compromised. Art storage has the experience in moving art works from museums collections and even antiques collection. Not only have they had the expertise they also have the necessary equipment that will surely protect art items. So, what are you waiting for don't carry your art works handle them with care.

Healthy advice to getting a fabulous abs..

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Summer is fast approaching and I know that we are looking forward to wear those sexy bikinis in the beach. But do you have that fab abs? Here are some healthy advice for getting a stomach you can show off.

Drink moderately: Research has proven that men and women who binge-drink has the biggest bellies compared to those who drink moderately. Wine drinkers have the smallest waistline; hard liquor drinkers the biggest. So keep your cosmopolitan and martinis to a minimum or avoid them altogether.

Eat lean proteins: keep your appetite under control by eating whole-wheat grains. Lean protein is the best way to feel full thougrout the day, minimizing the urge to munch on unhealthy snacks. Turkey or chicken, tuna and soya products will help keep those excess calories from being stored in your bellies. Yoghurt and fruits are good for snacks.

Work out three times a week: aside from your every other day ab exercise, do a cardiovascular workouts like running, low-impact aerobics and kickboxing for just 30 minutes. Make sure that your entire body gets a good burn so that you ab muscle will show.

Invest in a pedometer: if you can’t seem to find time to go to a gym why not buy a pedometer to log 10,000 steps a day. Our body needs to walk at least these many steps a day to stay at a healthy weight. Studies shows that overweight people only walk an average of 4000 steps a day.

My honeymoon!!!

Saturday, March 1, 2008

I just arrived from my 4 days 3 nights romantic trip from Cebu with my hubby. It felt that everything was so perfect. I really enjoy myself with all the places we have visited. But the most dazzling part of going there is our Garden Hotel. They give us quality service which is very important. And they have a romantic landscape which is so relaxing to the eyes. Not only that they serve breakfast in the garden. Don't you think it so romantic? Well, its one nice experience I have there, but I'm back to real world. But the good thing is that he promised me that we will go to Italy for our honeymoon. I just can't wait for that day as I imagine all the beautiful places like Rome hotels, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trastevere, St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. The though of it can really make me smile. What can I do? I'm just so excited for that promise to materialize. It's rude to say, but I'm pushing him to work really hard. So, that he can ask my parents to marry me since I already said Yes to him a long time ago. Not really that long, but I treat it that way. I just wish that his promise will materialize soon.

My BIG dream!!!

One of my hobbies I guess is watching TV. And I always dream of having one. So, I bought a 21 inch last year as a present for myself. But my dream is really big, to buy a Plasma TV. Though it's really expensive I find it really good, especially mounting it to the wall inside a theater room. Isn't that amazing, the feeling of being in a room with a wide screen just like in a movie house? It is like watching a movie every day. I could even invite friends to watch movie or watch during sleepovers. I don't need to go anywhere just stay in the house and relax myself in a couch with a bowl of pop corns. For me having one is like a status quo. Don't you think? However, the problem is that I have nowhere to put it just in case ill have one. My house is a bit small, even the TV Wall Bracket to hold Plasma TV could not possibly fit inside it. Funny right! But that's just it. But no matter what ill buy one someday. But before that day comes I will have to change my dream first. A big dream again, to buy a new house with a theater room. It's quite exciting for that dream to come true.

Keep Clothes from Falling Off Hangers

When you want to hang slips and spaghetti tops but don’t have the right hangers for it, try this on a regular wooden hanger: Hot glue a piece of Velcro on the sides. Ours us about five inches long, but you can adjust the length as needed. The rough surface keeps clothes straps in place, making for a more organized closet.

Seaside Cover-Up

Flowers are already pretty as they are, but it wouldn’t hurt to jazz up a plain vase with something you might already have on hand: seashells (Finally! A use for those beach souvenirs.) First, lay out the shells on the table and decide which ones you want to use. Do you want to work with similar ones or experiment with your own pattern? Arrange the shells on the table according to how you want them on the vase. Use hot glue to permanently attach them to the vase. Now you’ve got a beach-inspired arrangement to brighten up any corner.

An Award for Me...

Comfy office…

Our office is considered our second home. Here, we spend most of our time. Though it's sad to say but it's the place where we earn most of our stress. Irate boss and piling documents are just two examples of the many stressors in the office. And we all know that stress is dangerous to our health. To at least lessen the stress, everything inside it should at be comfortable enough for the person to work at they're best. Huge filing cabinets could ease up the painstaking bundles of documents. It could hold a number of files and prevent your office from being next to trash. The good thing for using filing cabinets is that everyone in the office can easily locate files. Also, books used in research should be stock in simple, yet nice bookcases. Remember reading books can help the mind relaxed. The most important of them all is fashionable and elegant office furniture. Accordingly people with good set of office table and chair can work with excellence. But these three should be placed appropriately to create a harmonious ambiance. Keep in mind that a workable environment is one of the motivators of a person to continue working in a longer period.

Pampering our feet!!!

Tips on how to pamper our feet, after all we’re on them all day..

1. See a pro twice a month:

After all the walking, the best way to thank our feet is have them pedicure by a processional with an intensive cleaning session and a foot scrub. So grab a call and schedule for that appointment.

2. Sock treatment:

After washing your feet before going to bed, slather on some petroleum jelly or a rich lotion, and then cover it with soft socks. The warmth will help the moisture penetrate the skin and surely you will wake up with soft and happy toes in the morning.

3. Let them breath:

Just like any parts of our body our toes also need fresh air. Constantly keeping them scrunched up in high heels will encourage corns and calluses which is not very appealing. Rest your feet by wearing open toe or flat shoes throughout most of the week, and reserve heels for special days.
