A beautiful message!
Tuesday, July 29, 2008
Hi guys just want to share this beautiful message by George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's. Hope you like this because it so eloquent and very appropriate for everyone of us.
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
prepare for holiday!
Monday, July 28, 2008
Although Halloween is still months away, some people would prepare for this holiday as early as now. Traditionally, Halloween is associated with parties and several games such as trick-or-treating, ghost tours, and bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses", and carving jack-o-lanterns. The very reason, some people would prefer to print their Halloween invitations earlier to give them time to fix other activity related to Halloween. So, if you're planning to organize a big party, then you can do it now!

Perhaps, playing those online games can be fun! Well, I have never tried playing one like this USA online casinos, but I am really curious how all this online casinos games are played. One of the friends of hubby has been inclined with this pastime game for a while now and he said that it can be a lot of fun. Mmmm! I'm wondering why he found this stuff an interesting pastime. Probably, he was able to win out of this casino and get some bonuses like this USA online casino bonuses.

No Cane, No Gain
People who zip gourmet coffee drinks likes syrupy latte and ice blended coolers at least two to three times may take in 260 more calories and 8 teaspoons more sugar per day than those who don't. A smarter way to get your fix: skip the syrup and whipped cream, and opt for one small spoon full of sugar and non fat milk. You would surely say goodbye to your plus size lingerie and clothes and would say hello to a new you.

Inner Beauty
What you eat and drink is vital in maintaining good eye health. Brightly colored fruits and vegetables are full of eye-guarding antioxidant; fiber-rich foods aid in the elimination of toxins from the body; and water hydrates skin from the inside. Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the best things you can do for your eyes, but quality is just as important as quantity. Sleeping on your side or back with your head slightly elevated and your neck well supported will prevent excess fluids from collecting under your eyes and making them look puffy.
health is life
Life is full of compromises. But when it comes to your health, there can never be a middle ground because health is our life. So, we need maximum protection for our health to ensure longer life. However, there are unfavorable events that would take away our life; leaving our family without anything. It is where our life insurance comes to rescue. There is lots of term life insurance over the internet. You may be able to compare rates and policies of every company. Thus, protect your health, protect your life and protect your family.
collectors item!
Friday, July 25, 2008
When I was a child I love to collect stuff like stamps, dolls and stationeries. But as I grow older this collecting habit vanished, due to many reasons like they clutter my room so, I have to get rid of them little by little. I have known some people that grow up their love for collecting items. To my point of view, collecting items that will not occupy your whole room is the best item such as presidential dollar. It is very small but very notable item. This is very interesting since portraits of past US presidents are engraved to each coin together with a different figure at the other side. Collecting these items will not clutter your room.
Childhood obesity
Obesity means having too much body fat. A child is considered obese if his weight is more than 20 percent higher than the ideal for his age and height. Take note that a child who is just a few pounds overweight is not necessarily obese.
Here are some tips to prevent child obesity:
- Change family behavior. Many behavior contribute to childhood obesity, whether its the amount of time spent in front of TV or computer, or the quality and quantity of food intake. These behaviors or habits are hard to change within a family, especially if members aren’t ready, willing or able to make changes. These might take some getting used to, but be patient and don’t give up.
- Create a health-weight environment. Make healthy food readily available. Integrate exercise and physical activity into the day’s routine. Encourage kids to play outside. Set rules that help reinforce a healthy lifestyle, such as limiting TV time.
- Be a positive role model. Commit to the changes yourself. Your actions teach your child what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat. You also encourage your child to be physically active everyday if you make it a priority yourself.
- Reward successful changes. Rewards should be consistent with the goal, and given regularly, like on a daily or weekly basis. Celebrating progress can be as simple as offering your child praise and attention. It could be also more involved. Planning an activity the family likes to do together, such as skating or swimming is a good option. Remember not to use food as a reward or punishment.
Clear skin
Many dermatologists have been reconsidering their long time stance that there are no links between diet and acne. One potential culprit maybe a high-glycemic, process-food diet (think white bread, pasta, rice). Researchers theorize that these sorts of foods may elevate hormones and thus stimulate sebaceous glands. Scientist found that eating a low-glycemic diet (high in protein, with fewer refined sugars and flowers) or 12 weeks reduce acne by almost 50 percent. Another possible trigger: dairy. Hormones in milk are taught to stimulate sebum production and, in turn, provoke pimples.
my physician friend!
Thursday, July 24, 2008
The owner of our boarding house happens to be a doctor. Well, we just meet last month while she is taking a month vacation here in the Philippines. She's working at Manhattan; the cool thing about her is that she is very techy doctor. She got many high-tech gadgets with her. It's not so obvious that she loves technology when you look at her. I think I can suggest this free online drug reference tool for medical websites that would suit her personality and her work as well, very fitting for a doctor, right? I will just email this to her because sending SMS during her busy schedule will just be discarded. This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.
Lingerie learning’s
- If your need to trim your body a little, don’t completely chunk the ideas of “granny panties” a.k.a. full briefs. Their high cut, comfortable shape and proportion provide full coverage and flatten bulges. When wearing them, avoid low-riding trousers to escape the embarrassment of pick-a-boo panties.
- If wearing bottom-hanging pants, skirt or dress, a thong or G-string is in order. If it cuts into your hip wear it one size bigger to eliminate unsightly bulging.
- If travelling, boyleg briefs made out of cotton mesh are your perfect pair for they go with nearly everything. They are also lightweight, compact and dry very quickly after washing.
- If you are to wear formal attire, use support undergarments or “shapers”. It’s how celebrity mom Jennifer Lopez achieves that svelte, seamless look when on the red carpet. One-piece tiddies work well, unless you are wearing something strapless.
- If buying a bra, do not take fit for granted. Always do a wear-test and check for the following features: underwire to support large busts, and push-up pads for small breast. When exercising, also make sure to wear sports bra to keep breast in place and to prevent injury.
hectic schedule?
Due to our hectic schedule, such as earning a living and doing chores and errands, it is difficult to some to finish their studies. Education is the only asset that nobody can get it from us. It does connote its importance but there are many reasons for not having one. Good thing Capella University developed an online college courses that are available to the public. They offer graduate degree programs in business, information technology, education, human services, psychology, public health, and public safety, and bachelor's degree programs in business, information technology, and public safety. For this reason, busy people like undergrad mothers, working teenagers and many more will be able to gain a degree without quitting their work. This blog post is based on information provided by Blogitive. 8 ways to Detox daily
- Take lots of water. 8 glasses or more of water help flush out the toxins and replenishes your body.
- Take your daily dose of vitamin C. It helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.
- Pass on the junk. Fatty foods bring in toxins that pollute your body. Cutting down, then eventually giving them up, will rid you of these unwanted components.
- Stop the habit. Give up alcohol, caffeine, and smoking. These will help clear your system of harmful elements.
- Brush your skin. Use a dry brush to stimulate your skin and help your body detoxify and relax as well. These can also be done through a detox foot bath.
- Sweat it out. Engaging in daily exercise or yoga will get your heart pumping and make your sweat. So, will sitting in a sauna. Your pores will release the toxins.
- Take a deep breath. Breathing deeply expands your lungs and allows more oxygen to circulate through your other organs, helping them to function better.
- Take in plenty of fiber. Fiber acts as a brush that sweeps away the toxins. Brown rice, oatmeal, cabbage, broccoli, pineapple, and seaweed are among the foods that are excellent sources of fiber.
Fit back to your skinny jeans
Forget the fat pants! With these belly-blasting tricks, you’ll be back in your favorite clothes in no time.Eat less at night. Your metabolism slows during the day, so the goal is to consume two-thirds of your daily calories before dinner. Then, for your evening meal, eat lightly and skip dessert.
Lift a little weight. Researchers track 164 women and found that those who lifted weights for an hour twice a week lost 15 percent more abdominal fat than those who didn’t. They also cut their total body fat by almost 4 percent.
Add seasoning – not salt. The more sodium in your diet, the more bloating in your belly. The American heart association estimates that you can cut your sodium intake by 30 percent simply by putting your shaker out of reach. Worried that your food will taste bland? Garnish with herbs, spices, and citrus juices instead.
Snooze it off. Sleepless nights means stressful days, which can lead to emotional-eating binges. What’s more, researchers tracked 12 healthy males and found that those who got only 4 hours of rest at night had a 23 percent increase in appetite. So, strive for at least 7 hours of sleep at night.
basis of one's wealth!
Throughout centuries, gold have been the basis of one's wealth and purchasing power. Gold's beauty have fascinated humans even those of the ancient time. Owning it can change men's lives. It is the best form of money and its value will only appreciate and never depreciate. Even a small amount of gold can go a long way. Since pure gold possess durability, passing it as heirloom will give great advantage to the recipient. There are many people would want to buy gold coins, in times of crisis, a single coin make buy him many goods. Plus, no matter where you go, gold is accepted and sought after.
Another plus for the pill
Taking oral contraceptives may cut your chances of developing colorectral cancer. And even if you only took the pill for a short time years ago, you might still benefit. In a study of 40,000, those who’d been on the pill for a period of 6 months to 3 years had a 39 percent reduction in risk. After that, there was no additional benefit – at least in terms of colorectal cancer prevention.
Building by Borrowing
When properly used, borrowing is the most powerful tool to build capital and grow a business.
Make your actual financial statements for your business. Prepare the cash flow, profit and lost statement and balance sheet as of the end of the latest month. Any prospective lender will require the information from you before they start evaluating your loan application. Having this enables you to understand the real condition and the true net worth of your business. Seek a professional to make these financial statements for you.
Think of your business plan in detail. What market will you cater to? What product and/or service will you sell? How much will it cost you to produce and deliver these products and services? The most important projection is your cash flow, which provides the true and total amount of cash required to sustain the profitability of your business.
Make your monthly projection for the next few years. This must be based on your most realistic set of assumptions pertaining to all aspects of the business requiring cash or producing cash. Make as many projections as you want using different assumptions for each item. These include all the cash that you receive and all expenses you need to spend for.
For each item, use different assumption. On one sheet, you can have optimistic assumption. On another sheet, you can use the pessimistic assumptions. Choose the most realistic and came out with a working financial plan, which will be a combination of all the scenarios you make. Some items can change monthly and others can remain constant. Put some thought to each amount use.
As the business grow and successful enough, might as use different methods to continue profitably such as Business process management (bpm). It will promote your business effectiveness and efficiency while striving for innovation, flexibility and integration with technology.
what's wrong with that?
As a woman, beautifying myself is a must and proper education on this matter is needed. For many years, I have tried enrolling in dancing lessons, handy crafts and dress making. As of this time, I am planning to enrol in one of the beauty schools in town. I love going to salon to get my hair done and I have watched shows on self beautification. But it doesn't work for me at all. I don't want to commercialize my learning. I just want to learn high-quality and exceptional beauty education, what's wrong with that. But with my busy schedule, I don't know if I will be able to manage it.
fix that weird smell!
Monday, July 21, 2008
Here are quick remedies for unwanted odors:
Cook’s Tricks
- To absorb the pungent odor of foods like fish, place a small bowl filled with white vinegar on the stove while cooking.
- If food from a bubbling casserole spills over the stovetop, sprinkle salt on the drips to absorb the burning smell while the dish is still cooking.
- To deodorize a musty-smelling freezer, fill a clean sock with dry coffee grounds and place it inside.
- Wash indoor and outdoor trash cans with hot, soapy water to remove smelly bits of debris. After cleaning, place a roll of new bags in the bottom. You’ll have them at hand when you need them, so the cans won’t get stinky again.
- Leave a couple of used fabric softener sheets in the bottom of your kitchen trash can to absorb odors.
- Guests are just about to arrive and you suddenly notice your pooch or kitty smells a bit gamy. For a quick fix (until bath time), lightly sprinkle fur with baking soda, rub in, and then brush out.
- To deodorize the toilet, pour 1 cup household vinegar into the bowl and let it stand for at least five minutes. Scrub and flush.
- For a quick air deodorizer, dab essential oil (cinnamon or orange) onto cotton balls; place them in a small bowl on a shelf.
- To quickly deodorize a smelly rug, sprinkle a box of baking soda over it and let it settle into the fibers for 30 minutes, then vacuum up.
celebrate life
Waking up to blue skies or enjoying a long weekend is reason enough to live to the fullest. We should celebrate life's simplest and most pleasurable experiences. Life will not wait for us; it will take its course and might live us behind. That is why we have to appreciate every moment we have. However, there are events that are out of our control and might inflict pains and injury. Catastrophic situation is frightening and confusing. Seeking help through Chicago personal injury lawyers can offer us peace of mind. It is difficult to understand emotional, physical, and financial impact of personal injury, or wrongful death. It is always our right to seek help to those who recognized the pain. But, before unfavorable events happen, enjoy every moment we have.
tangled free accessories!
Are you frustrated by tangled or misplaced accessories? Then, re-purposed household items will save your day. You wouldn't believe but you can stow your large earrings and watch on an oyster dish: the following holes will keep your pieces sorted. Stud earrings stay in paired (and those little backs stay put) when you poke stems through the holes of colourful buttons, displayed in olive dishes. Hang necklaces on wall-mounted drawer pulls. If you have a vintage ceramic hand, once used for jewelry displayed, it will work for rings, hoops, and bracelets. All of these will give you ease in choosing in your Festina watches and accessories that will match your outfit for the day.

hey guys here's my entry for this weeks photohunt :) I have a hard time choosing the appropriate picture and end up with this one.
hope you guys enjoy and have a nice weekendsour living room
Last June, the owner of our boarding house arrived for a month vacation. She happens to be an internal doctor, which is just a coincidence since hubby is a nurse. Hmmm a little connection huh! She was so restless and can't seem to sit still for 30 minutes. I was amazed by her energy, if that would be me I'll surely be in deep slumber after a 16 hour flight. She instantly went to the mall to buy stuff but what struck us most, is that she bought 3 dozens of disposable diaper. She says it's her grandmothers supply. She seems to love her so much. Isn't it obvious? Well, they were not able to transport all diapers to her grandmother's house and the remaining dozen is still in the living room.
Healthy Heart and Beautiful Me! hehehe
You may know that eating whole grains lower your risk of heart disease. But you may not know how little it takes to make a difference. When researchers' analyzed studies involving nearly 150,000 men and women, they found that people who ate more whole grains - an average of two and a half servings every day - had a 21 percent lower risk of developing heart disease. Have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and a sandwich on whole-grain bread for lunch and you're there - in fact, you're to the three servings a day experts advocate as a way to cut the risk of other diseases as well.
Well, that's all for now, have to beautify myself by plucking my excess eyebrow hair. Good thing I have my Rubis tweezers. Have to do it so hubby would not tease me for my excess hair.
Quite impressed!
Quite impressed by the movie we watched earlier today, although we have watched Forbidden Kingdom in the movie house, but my friend was able to get a copy of it. We're lucky that it consists of closed captioning system. We were able to enjoy the movie better than with watching it in the big screen. I'm just wondering where my friend got such copy. Well, at least I was able to get the thought of having closed caption since I fully understand the movie I watched.
Beat food allergies!
Wednesday, July 16, 2008
The only way to beat food allergies is to avoid the offending food altogether. Many doctors would say that it should be kept out of your child's diet while he is still very young. Most especially if such allergies run in your family. Hopefully, he will outgrow this. Then, you can slowly bring the problem food back in your child's diet. Keep in mind that food allergies can be harmful and worse deadly. If your child can feel his lips and tongue swell, and is having trouble breathing, he may be going to anaphylactic shock which may lead to loss of consciousness and even death. But can be prevented with a quick shot of epinephrine.

that's it guys, enjoy the rest of the week!!!Organizing your bills
Friday, July 11, 2008
Having a system for paying and filling bills can help you track your expenses, monitor your investments, check the money you “save” and avoid missing due dates. Here are some tips to organize your bills and files properly:
Open bills as they arrive Don’t leave your bills unopened since we tend to forget it when its lying around somewhere. Mark the payment date on the envelope or log (the due date) on your calendar. Then put all pending bills in a bill holder – a filling tray, an envelope, or a basket – on your desk.
Use an “in” box Track your expenses by placing paid bills, receipts, or non-receipt cash payment, like phone cards, in an “In” box before filling them. Set a time and day to record these expenses in a notebook or in a spreadsheet in your computer.
Find space and time To prevent misplacing your bills, find a space for them together with other materials you need like pens, papers, calculator, and checkbook. When you designate a day each month to pay for your bills, you avoid making several trips to the bank or payment center.
Record your paid bills After paying your bills, record them immediately before filling them separately. This will enable you to track your expenses.
File away You can use white envelopes and label them on a monthly basis. You can also clip the receipts according to their category such as meals, clothing, gas, and groceries. Another way is to use a separate envelop for receipts that can be use for tax, insurance and long-term files.
Keep your records Organize files by labels and category each separator on the accordion files. You may categorized them as fixed expenses, which includes rent, tuition, mortgage, and loans; or variable expenses such as electricity, water, groceries. Don’t put to many items on miscellaneous category to avoid hiding your expenses. For filing purposes, keep only home bills within the last 6 months.
Good night sleep
Thursday, July 10, 2008
Next time you turn off the lights, turn on the CD player. Listening to music at bedtime can help you nod off faster, sleep longer, and feel more rested in the morning according to study. The type of tune isn’t so important. What matter is the tempo – ideal is a slow 60 to 80 beats a minute. The music should be calm, with no jarring rhythms. And your player should be set on a timer so you won’t lose sleep worrying about turning it off.
Off The Cuff

Makeup could get in your outfit to. To manage the mess:
Lipstick Soak stain in a dry-cleaning solvent or pretreat with prewash stain remover. Launder as using the appropriate bleach.
Makeup Sponge with or soak in dry-cleaning solvent. Launder as usual using the appropriate bleach.
Mascara Rub stain with a liquid detergent. Launder as usual using the appropriate bleach. (Some water-proof product cannot be removed.)
Nail Polish Sponge with acetone after first testing on a hidden part of the item. (Do not use acetone on fabrics containing acetate or triacetate; it will dissolve them.) Launder as usual using the appropriate bleach.
Makeup Tips for Daytime and Evening!

The casual warm look
After cleaning your face in the morning, consider the type of moisturizer you need. If you know you'll be spending a lot of time outside in the sun, go for a moisturizer with SPF protection, or even better, use a light sunscreen as moisturizer. You now have a choice – either stay natural with your usual foundation or compact powder, or add a touch of bronzer to your face with the help of a tinted powder. Add a touch of blusher on the apples of your cheekbones and move on to your eyes. Apply a neutral make-up base over the entire eyelid, then blend in a light gold shade across the eyelid up to and slightly over the crease. On the outer one quarter of the eyelid, add a shimmery blue nuance and smudge. Use a complementary blue eyeliner on the top lid and one coat of black mascara. Finally, use a nude or pink tinted lip gloss and you're all set.
The cool evening look
For an evening out with your friends, you could risk using a touch of tinted face powder for a slightly darker, glowing complexion. Add a matte, pinkish-gold shade of blusher for added glow and radiance. Apply a neutral, beige colored nuance over the entire upper eyelid and then sweep a shimmery, plum shade on the eyelid up to and slightly over the crease. Add the same shade under the lower lashes. Finally, blend a shade of platinum silver into the crease of the eye. Use a matching purple kohl eyeliner and add two coats of mascara. For your lips, use a creamy, neutral brown lipstick and a wine colored gloss on top of it for added shine and color.
Iron like a pro
Sunday, July 6, 2008
To smooth fibres after washing, there are three major steps: moist, stretch, and dry. Steam is the best way to moisten fabric because fine steam can go deep into the fibres to make them soft and flexible again. Once the moistened fabric is stretched flat by the bottom of the iron, it must be dried immediately and the right level of temperature is very important.
Tips
Shirts and blouses – steam as needed. Iron first the inside, then the outside of the collar. After doing that, do the shoulder areas and the upper part of the back. The cuffs are next, follow by the sleeves. Move on to the back of the shirt, finishing up with the front panels and the button row, moving the tip of the steam iron under and around the buttons.
Linen Linen is notoriously difficult to iron. You get the best and the quickest results if you use a hot steam iron while the fabric is still damp from the wash. Don’t over-iron-the garment should be ever-so-slightly damp when you are finished. Iron dark linens inside out.
Cottons and denims: These are hard-wearing fabrics can almost always be ironed at high temperature using steam on stubborn spots. If the garment is dark, iron inside out to avoid shine.
Trousers – Pull the pockets inside out and iron them first, followed by the zipper placket and waistband. Slip the waistband around the narrow end of the board and iron the upper part of the trousers. Fold each leg, matching up inseam and side seam, and iron flat on both sides. An extra burst of steam will help you set neat, sharp front creases in place.
Free Radicals!
Saturday, July 5, 2008
Free radicals can play a hand in the aging process, and cause cancer and heart disease. The skin, being the body’s largest organ and also the most exposed, is vulnerable to free radicals hence, our concerns about premature aging and skin cancer.
Thankfully, antioxidants in our body weaken free radicals and help them at bay. Glutathione is the most abundant antioxidant in our bodies. It helps recycle vitamin C, the antioxidant that aids in collagen production, keeping our skin’s youthfulness. Together, these antioxidants work against the free radicals that would normally cause skin adamage. Alpha Lipoic Acid is another antioxidant known to regenerate Glutathione, which in, regenerates’ vitamin c.

A Guide to Melons!
The best melons feel heavy in one’s stomach, give off pleasant aroma, and yields slightly to gentle pressure at the stem end. Ripe ones keep for up to three days in the fridge; wrap cut melon well to ward off refrigerator odors.
Watermelon An icon of summer, this fruit ranges from 8 to 20 pounds. Most have green skin, marbled with yellow, and bright red flesh. You may have been taught to thump a water melon to check its ripeness, but that doesn’t really work. At their pick from June through August.
Cantaloupe With raised, netted skin and highly aromatic, flavorful orange flesh, cantaloupe actually separate from the vine when ripe. So, look for the smooth indentions on the stem end. (If picked too soon, a bit of stem might still be attached.) Freeze chunks of cantaloupes for your morning smoothie. Available June through November.
Honeydew It’s name perfectly describes this melons flavor – sugary yet fresh. Dealing with excellence

Parents of student achiever should remember:
Show your child plenty of affection that is not attached to their successes Academic excellence in children is often notice and praise, so they sometimes tend to believe it’s the only reason they are liked or loved. They need to feel and know that they are wonderful and interesting individuals, regardless of their gold medals and high grades.
Encourage him to seek peers who have the same interests Your child is bound to encounter other children who are not as accomplished, so it’s important to instill in him that aiming for excellence should be the standard; not the exception.
Avoid giving them the impression that they will always be the best in class or the most awarded This may lead to frustration when they enter broader settings (like entering a university or finding a job), and find out that there are other who are better. The key is to let them know that there are also other brilliant people like them.
Why doesn’t he understand me?
In general, men focus in hierarchy and women in connection. Boys always use talk to negotiate their status within a group, while girls use talk to negotiate closeness. This difference can cause misunderstanding with apologies, for example when a man makes some small transgression, his wife might feel that if he’d just say, “I’m sorry,” it would be over. But he won’t, and then you end up arguing about why he won’t apologize. For many women, an apology means, “I care that I let you down; I care about you.” If he doesn’t apologize, it’s like he doesn’t care. But for men, asking for an apology is a demand that he publicly humiliate himself. He thinks apologizing is a sign of weakness, and that you’ll use it against him, because that what another man would do. So when you say, “why won’t you apologize?’ he hears, “I caught you in an error and I’m going to rub your nose in it.
