Yesterday, hubby and I went shopping for the things we need for our travel abroad next month. We are almost done with our lists, but we have to go back since there are things that are out-of-stock. Actually, it isn’t a problem because I indeed love shopping. I can even do it every day if I have fortunes or do it for someone else.

Anyway, while looking for another blouse; I intend to buy two, but end up with one, I noticed one of the stores I visited isn’t using barcode system; no bluetooth barcode scanner only a cash registry. Well, it is not a surprise since it’s a small store and pretty new to the market. Although it’s good to have a good system while starting the business, if it’s can’t be helped then live without it first. I’m sure they will upgrade in the future.

It’s the same thinking I have if I’m going to put up my own business especially if capital isn’t that big. After a while, I will just have to upgrade my store by having barcode system. I’m aware of the many benefits of having barcode system in a store. It’s a good way to serve customers faster making their shopping experience a good one.

A friend of mine is too excited to receive her new visa rewards card. Actually, it’s one of those Good Sam visa reward cards. She applied for it because she is an avid rver. Here’s all you have to do. Hewitt Associates just released a study that shows how investing in your early years can make you wealthy in your retirement. The study says that any dollar you save at the age of 25 will be worth $8 at the age of 65. So if you have $10,000 in the bank at age 25, you will have $80,000 by the time you’re 65. All you have to do is leave the money in the bank. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

What if you’re not 25 anymore? As you age, the returns will be less. Still, every dollar invested at age 35 will be worth $5 at age 65. And if you start at age 45, that dollar will be worth $3. If you’re in your 30s or 40s, please don’t let this discourage you. It is far better to start saving now than to just give up completely and not save at all. It’s never too late. Why turn down $5 or $3 just because it’s not $8? And if your children are grown, show them this information and encourage them to start saving now.

Just as it’s never too late to start saving, it’s also never too early. If your children are young, every dollar they save now could be worth $10-$12 when they retire. So take the time to teach your children about saving for the future. The book of Proverbs tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (22:6). Most parents relate this just to spiritual training. Nearly everyone knows what it means to live beyond their means, but unfortunately the majority of people in the United States do live beyond their means each and every day and so, typically have more debt than they do assets. The best thing that you can do for your financial situation whether you are first starting out or in the middle of a debt crisis is to live as far under your means as you can live comfortably.

This means making sure that you have a decent amount of money left over after you pay your bills every month. If you can, try to stay with a relative rent free (parents are a good option, if you’re just out of high school) so you can get on your feet financially before going out into the world on your own.

The key is to not live at such a level that you are spending almost all of your check every week. I know this sounds easier than it actually is, but most people spend a lot more money on things they do not really need than they realize. Once they understand that they do not need to go to Starbucks every day ($3 a day can cost you $90 a month!) or that their World of Warcraft subscription can be simply suspended for a few months if they do not have time to play (and you won’t lose your characters, I promise!), they will be much more likely to do away with these expenses until they are sure they can afford them.

Try to dine out less than you normally do and learn that your freezer is your friend when it comes to saving money on groceries. If it is left over after a meal and you won’t eat it in the next couple of days, freeze it! Learn the glory of plastic storage bags and you will save much. Want to keep your chips from going stale? Take them out of their original package and put them in a plastic storage bag instead. Your snack foods will stay fresh much longer than they would in their original packages, if the original packaging has no way for you to reseal it.

Save electricity by turning off the lights when you’re not using them. Save water by making sure you use as little as possible, like taking showers instead of baths. Nobody wants to have to be a penny pincher, but let’s face it: rich people did not get that way by living expensive lifestyles.

Today is Black Friday; I’m ready to take on the challenge to compete with hundreds of people in the shopping madness. I already prepared myself for this event as I’m sure lots of people will attend. Unfortunately, I can’t make it in time for the great deal. I still have work to do and will have to go on overtime. Why do they have to give me too much work at times like this? Well, it is still better that way than to have no work at all.

Yesterday, I cancelled our night out plans after seeing additional tasks on my emails early in the morning. I have to prioritize my work over having some fun. Hubby said I am becoming workaholic as time goes by. But, he can’t blame me for that. I have so many dreams I want to achieve and goals I want to fulfill. If I won’t be aggressive, time will just past me by and leave me nothing.

My inspiration is a friend of mine who already own a salon. She was able to fulfill her dreams at an early age. After hard work and perseverance, she became the boss of her own business.
